Supporting Children's Emotional Wellbeing

Through Art and Design

My Approach

At Mindful in Art, we believe that emotional understanding is the foundation of confident, curious, lifelong learners. I’m Lindsey Groves an artist, educator with over 12 years’ experience and a mother. My work focuses on helping children build the emotional literacy and coping tools they need to recognise, express, and regulate their feelings, including the tools to manage anxiety.

Art and design offer a gentle, accessible way into this work. Creativity allows children to slow down, experiment, and discover that there is no single “right” way to learn, think, or create. With a background in Fine Art and a PGCE in Design Technology, I use structured creative activities to support self-awareness, emotional regulation, and growing confidence.

Guided by trauma-informed guidelines, my focus is always on emotional safety, choice, and connection. Children learn practical strategies they can use in school, at home, and in everyday life, helping them feel more grounded, more capable, and better equipped to cope with anxiety and other overwhelming feelings.
