About Mindful in Art
Mindful in Art uses a hands-on, relational approach through creativity to help children focus, understand their emotions, and develop practical tools to regulate themselves. Working with materials, drawing, building, and designing, slows the mind, creates space for reflection, and supports emotional regulation.
Our programmes educate children in emotional literacy, teaching them about their nervous system and how it responds to stress and strong feelings. Using principles from trauma-informed practice, we provide strategies that help children notice their emotions, calm their bodies, and respond rather than react.
By learning these skills through art, design, and mindfulness, children become more settled, resilient, and confident. This in turn helps them engage more fully in the classroom, interact positively with peers, and approach learning with curiosity and focus.
We deliver 6 and 12-week programmes directly in schools across the North East of England, offering a safe, structured space where children can explore, create, and grow. Through making, they discover that emotions are manageable and gain tools to feel steadier, stronger, and ready to learn.
